Why did our government implement unscientific mitigation and control protocols during COVID? If they were genuinely interested in helping to keep people safe, the response would have been very different.

COVID has touched each of our lives in one way or another, but none more affected than the Native Americans who, in the last two years, lost seven years off of their lifespan. Poor public health policy and a one-size-fits-all approach aimed at keeping them safe proved to be detrimental for the Navajo Nation, where many live in multigenerational households with no running water or electricity.

We always hear the term ethical principles ⏤ but did Nurses and Physicians forget what they are and the oath they swore to uphold them? Furthermore, would the patients or community know if they were in breach of them?

When is enough, enough? You took the first two injections, and now your job requires you to take a booster shot. For what? We knew early on in the injection campaign that vaccines do not prevent you from COVID-19 disease.

Since the arrival of covid, nurses have strayed away from their ethical principles and allowed policies and protocols to take precedence over patients. In 2020, nurses were hailed as healthcare heroes, and in 2021, for the 20th consecutive year in a row, listed as the number one most trusted profession. This is largely due to the advocate role a nurse plays in a healthcare setting where moral courage is seen and felt.
